A National Assembly member, from Oyo South, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, says that the resolve by Rashidi Ladoja to wear crown is a demonstration of his respect for the people (natives) of Ibadan.
Alli spoke with reference to the crowning of Ladoja, the Otun-Olubadan of Ibadanland, by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakunlehin.
The senator, in a statement addressed to Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, expressed appreciation to Oba Olakunlehin for his wisdom and leadership style in bestowing the honour upon him.
The statement read that the Olubadan was magnanimous for his continuous efforts to uphold the traditions and values that long defined the ancient city.
It also extended Alli’s gratitude to the indegenes of Ibadan for their unwavering support and collective effort at ensuring that the process was successful.
It acknowledged the role played by stakeholders in preserving the harmony and unity that the city was known for.
Also, it described Ladoja as a father figure, a leader and a mentor who yielded to the peaceful sentiments of the Ibadan people, saying it was “a demonstration of his deep respect for the will of the people and his commitment to the enduring Peace as well as progress of Ibadanland.”
