Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has described his predecessor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, as a forthright man who left worthy legacies behind in the state.
The governor spoke in a letter dated June 29, signed and made available to journalists in Ibadan, on Saturday.
Oyo Reporters writes that the late Ajimobi’s widow had, last week, expressed shock that the state government was silent about her husband’s passage.
Makinde’s letter read, “I write on behalf of the government and good people of Oyo State, to commiserate with you on the shocking demise of your beloved husband, father, brother and grandfather, the former Executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
“Senator Ajimobi, the immediate past governor, lived a life of service to humanity and had contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of Oyo State in particular and Nigeria in general.
“I have no doubt he will be missed by all and sundry.
“Our consolation, however, is that Senator Abiola Ajimobi, had brought his rich wealth of experience for the transformation of the state.
“As we mourn his passage, let us take solace in the righteous life he lived and his legacies which we shall fondly remember.
“May God Almighty give members of the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”
