A total of 41 traffic offenders were, on Thursday, prosecuted at a mobile court in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital for various traffic offences.
However, Sunday Okoronko, one of the defaulters, was set free on compassionate grounds by the Magistrate, O.K Omotosho.
Okoronko, an okada rider, with vehicle registration number NRK 922 QH, was freed by court on the plea that he had just been sacked by his previous employer in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The other defaulters bagged between two weeks and six months jail terms with options of fine.
The cases were brought to the court by Mr U.T Alimi, a prosecutor.
The Executive Chairman of the Oyo Road Traffic Management Authority, Dr Akin Fagbemi, noted that the court was fair to all parties in accordance with the state’s road traffic management law.
Fagbemi added, “Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration is irrevocably committed to fairness in accordance with provisions of the extant traffic laws of the state. It shall be a continuous process that would be fairly and transparently carried out.”
