A leading Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, led a protest match tagged #EndSars in Ibadan, Oyo State on Saturday.
The protest match followed the criticisms against the promotion of her new movie, ‘Fate of Alakada.’
Some aggrieved youth had on Friday, engaged in a peaceful protest in parts of the metropolis with reported attacks on security personnel.
The actress, wearing leaf green gown with white canvas, rallied the people for support to the call against the operations of SARS in the country.
The placards bearing protesters were seen in a video chanting ‘EndSARS,’ ‘End police brutality.’
Abraham, who joined the call for an end to the operation of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, described herself as, “an instrument for change and a destiny implementer.”
The movie star posted videos clips of the protest on her Twitter page, saying, “I am more than my movies, I am an instrument for change and a destiny implementer. You can do this. love you all. #EndSARS.”
It was widely held that Abraham’s action may be connected to the criticisms that trailed the promotion of her movie on Friday.
The actress took to the social media platform to ask for the forgiveness of her fans who were hurt by her actions and comments.
The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, Nwachukwu Enwonwu, had indicated the resolve of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, to reform SARS by banning routine patrols, stop-and-search, mounting of road blocks and traffic checks with immediate effect in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan, on Saturday.
