The Agro Rangers Squad of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Oyo State Command, has arrested eight suspected kidnappers said to be terrorising Ado Awaye, Araromi Lcda, Okaka and Otu communities in Itesiwsju Local Government Area and Ilero in Iwa Local Council Development Authority.
The state Commandant of the NSCDC, Iskilu Akinsanya, disclosed that at around 11:15pm on Thursday, one Alhaji Baani Abubakar otherwise called Chief Jowuro, made a distress call to the Agro Rangers in the Oke-Ogun axis.
He alleged that the run-away suspected kidnappers operating in Ado-Awaye, Araromi LCDA, Okaka and Otu in Itesiwaju Local Government and Ilero LCDA were spotted at Bobajiroro Hotel, Oke Adeta, Iseyin.
There, six male and two female Bororo suspects were arrested.
Akinsanya said in the course of investigation, they trailed one of the suspects named Umaru Lawal to an hideout.
Lawal, 25, allegedly said the telephone number used in tracking him down belong to his friend.
The Civil Defense Chief said, “Interrogation revealed that some numbers were stored on his phone with different codes such as 52,42,33 etc.
“Umaru later agreed to help the corps in getting his friend. Names and identities of the suspects were giving as Umaru Lawal, (male) from Ado-Awaye; Umaru Saliu, 27, (male) from Ado-Awaye; Abase Musa, 30, (male) from Odo-Ogun Iseyin; Barika Idris, (male) from Ipapo Itesiwaju Local government; Abdulahi Kanti, 25, (male) from Odo-Ogun Iseyin; Boto Dengi, 30, (male) from Fasola Oyo; Fatimo Kiri, 8, (female) from Ilero, and Adiza Adamu, 20, (female) from Ilero, Iwa LCDA.”
Items that were recovered from the suspects include a red Boxer motorcycle with registration number, BDJ 580 UL; a red Boxer motorcycle registration number, EGB 628 UF; four Tecno phones sets; one QUP phone; two Itel phones; and sum of N32,510,00.
The Civil Defence Public Relations Officer, Oluwole Olusegun, said the suspects would be handed over to the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Oyo State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
