Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, on Friday, submitted their petitions against Senator Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party at the state election petition tribunal against the outcome of the July 16 governorship poll.
In company with the embattled governor at the tribunal were Kafayat, his wife; Prince Gboyega Famodun, the state Chairman of APC in the state; and some members of his cabinet.
The secretary of the tribunal received the petition which was signed by the governor and the party chairman to challenge Adeleke’s victory.
Recall that Adeleke of the PDP was declared the winner of the July 16 Osun governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Oyetola left the venue of the tribunal without addressing journalists after signing and handing over the documents to the secretary of the tribunal.
A counsel to the petitioner, named Kunle Adegoke (SAN), said in an interview with journalists that Oyetola and the ruling party were ready to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt.
It was learnt that the governor and his party challenged the conduct of election in 749 polling units across 10 local government council areas of the state over alleged electoral malpractices.
