The All Progressives Congress chiefs in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State have reiterated their determination to reposition the party for victory in a bid to displace Governor Seyi Makinde from the seat of power in the state in 2023.
The chieftains gave the indication during a grand reception that was organised in honour of a leader of the party in the state, Abisoye Fagade, by the APC at its secretariat in Ejioku, on Tuesday.
Those in attendance on the occasion are the former Chief Whip of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Olafisoye Akinmoyede; Chief Abraham Amoo, Caretaker Chairman of the APC in Lagelu Local Government Area, Mr Kehinde Adeleke; Chief Funke Adesiyan a.k.a Funlab and Alhaji Sarafadeen Otegbeye.
The others are Dauda Lawal, Adebowale Akanmu a.k.a Arowomole, Moshood Lawal, Lekan Odunade, Akeem Aransi, Jide Adeniran, and Akinyemi Obama.
While giving his address on the occasion, Fagade said moves are being made to unite all the interest groups and leaders of the APC in a bid to dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party-led government from power in 2023.
He particularly lauded the efforts and the bond within the party in Lagelu Local Government Area of the state, noting that “The members had demonstrated an enviable feat of unity and togetherness before, during and after the crisis that rocked the state chapter of the party which cost it the 2019 governorship election.
“Meanwhile, we are not oblivious of the fact that a large political family like ours can’t exist and forge ahead without individual differences. But I make bold to say that all our leaders and key players have now resolved to work together like never before to make our party stronger and more cohesive.
“It is when this is guaranteed that we would be able to realize our collective goal as Progressive patriots in 2023 and beyond. I have taken up the gauntlet to join other well-meaning citizens in promoting the progressive politics. We have done a lot to alleviate the suffering of the people especially at the grassroots through the ‘Oyo Si Maa Dun’ Foundation.”
In his speech, Akinmoyede, “We all got a short notice for this occasion and with the calibre of people which formed the crowd that we have here today, it shows that we remain steadfast and committed to the cause of our party- APC. We call on all leaders and members of the APC to work harder in mobilising themselves and others to champion the cause to enable us to return to Agodi Government House in 2023.”
