The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force said on Sunday that the state has recorded two new coronavirus related deaths.
This brings the total number of confirmed deaths occasioned by the disease to 24.
The disclosure was made as the state recorded a total of 191 new COVID-19 cases.
Giving an update on the spread of the virus in the state, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who doubles as the state chairman of the COVID-19 task force, wrote on his verified Twitter handle, “Twenty-two confirmed COVID-19 cases received their second negative test results and have been discharged.
“This brings the number of discharged cases in Oyo State to 1146.
“Also, the COVID-19 confirmation tests for 191 suspected cases came back positive.”
The cases are from Iseyin (55), Lagelu (37), Ibarapa Central (21), Egbeda (11), Oyo East (9), Ibadan North (8), Orelope (8), Afijio (6), Ona Ara (6), Ogbomosho South (6), Ogbomosho North (4), Ido (4), Ibadan North West (3), Oluyole (3), Atiba (3) and Oyo West (3).
Others are Ibadan South West (1), Ibadan North East (1), Akinyele (1) and Ibadan South East (1) local government areas.
This brings the current total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State as of Sunday to 2,497.
The governor added, “Sadly, we had two COVID-19 related deaths in the state. So, the total number of deaths in Oyo State is 24.
“Please, call the Emergency Operations Centre or visit a community-based testing centre, if you have COVID-19 symptoms such as cough, fever, tiredness, body ache, loss of smell/taste and shortness of breath.”
