Rauf Olaniyan, Deputy Governor of Oyo State, has been sacked.
Olaniyan was impeached at plenary around 11:30 am by the lawmakers on Monday.
The Oyo State House of Assembly is dominated by members of the Peoples Democratic Party.
The embattled Olaniyan was elected in 2019 on a joint ticket with Governor Seyi Makinde on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Olaniyan’s removal followed the state Assembly’s adoption of the report of the seven-man-panel constituted by the Chief Judge to investigate allegations brought against him at its plenary on Monday.
The Majority Leader of the House, Sanjo Adedoyin, stated that the deputy governor was found culpable.
According to him, he was found guilty of all allegations and complaints levelled against him.
Olaniyan’s removal from office is said to be in line with Section 188(9) of the 1999 constitution (as amended).
