Dr Babajide Agunbiade, a renowned oil magnate, has tasked the Nigerian youth to vote wisely in their quest to salvage the country from the impending gloom.
Atóbaáse, who is the patron of the Nigeria Union of Journalist in Oyo State, gave the advice while speaking from his base in Texas recently.
The business mogul, who is also the Asiwaju of Fiditiland, said that the youth should not allow themselves to be manipulated by deceitful politicians who indulge in the use of bogus statics, blackmail, sentiments, and emotions to deceive the public.
He said that the youth should not be partisan but must be determined to vote for the right candidate who has the capacity to resolve the security and economic challenges being experienced currently.
According to him, the country should have advanced beyond the current level but for bad leadership, greed, religious and tribal sentiment.
“It is vital for our youth not only to listen to the candidates’ sweet talks and rhetorics that got us to where we are today but to dig deep into the candidates’ past performances, which is the best indicator of future performances.
“The youth should think deeply and choose a visionary leader with pedigree, a leader that will make their education, security, welfare, and well-being his priority, a leader that will ensure that the youth have representation in his government.
“I’m urging them to vote based on the pedigree of the candidates. They must scrutinize the candidates’ past performances in their previous positions as governors, vice presidents and so on. The youth should also abstain from being used as political thugs and instrument of violence before, during and after the election.
“The youth should desist from anything that can distract the government or cause trouble,” he said.
