The disclosure was made by the Commissioner for Education in the state, Prof. Salihu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, while receiving the management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan, led by the Rector, Prof. Kazeem Adekunle Adebiyi, in his office on Friday.

In his address on the occasion, Adelabu described technology as the main ingredient required to develop any nation. With the use of technology as the driver of education in the state, he said that a solid foundation would be laid for technological advancement of Oyo State in particular and Nigeria in general.

He said, “In the advanced countries, technological education is given preference in the drive for advancement. The Management of The Polytechnic Ibadan should rise up to the challenges of development of the nation. The government will always give support to technological drive.”

In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Sanjo Adeniyi, urged the Management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan to continue to sustain the image of the institution, saying its name is a household one beyond the borders of the country.

He stressed that nothing should be done to undermine the hard-earned image of the institution.

Earlier, the Rector congratulated the Commissioner on his appointment, pointing out that the Commissioner’s antecedents and credentials were enviable.

A statement titled, ‘Education Commissioner receives Poly Ibadan Management with a pledge to support technology driven education,’ e-signed by Chief Soladoye Adewole, Public Relations Officer, The Polytechnic Ibadan, read that Adebiyi assured the Commissioner of the institution’s cooperation in his drive to lift education in the state to an enviable standard.
