As part of the resolve to improve the level of security in Oyo State, Governor Seyi Makinde has presented over 100 patrol vehicles to security agencies in the Pacesetter state.
Checks showed that the patrol vehicles come with communication gadgets.
The Nigeria Police, Army, Customs, Correctional service, Immigration, Joint Security Task Force known as Operation Burst, state security network agency codenamed Amotekun, Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority are beneficiaries of the patrol vehicles.
The presentation of the patrol vehicles held on Wednesday at the open field of the state House of Assembly complex, Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan.
Recall that the governor had, earlier late last year, presented security vans to the Police and some security agencies, including the Amotekun Corps in a bid to curb crime.
According to Makinde, the state government’s commitment to enhancing the duties and operations of security agencies is in recognition of their interventions in keeping the state secure.
Makinde assured the security chiefs of the state government’s resolve to continue to partner with the security stakeholders in the state.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Fatai Owoseni, said the intervention of the Makinde-led administration in the area of would go a long way in ensuring peace across the state.
He tasked the service commanders to ensure their men efficiently utilise the security infrastructure continuously provided by the state government.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebola Hamzat, expressed satisfaction on the gesture of the governor. He assured the residents of the state that the security agencies would continue to do their best to guarantee security across the state.
