Another 13-year-old girl, Anuoluwapo Ayodele, was reunited with her family after being lured away from her father.

She was rescued recently by the Oyo State Rapid Response Team on Sexual, Gender Based Violence and Child Abuse, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion.

Ayodele, whose mother died several years ago while she was a toddler, is the only child to her parents.

Her father, Mr Samuel Ayodele, a 67,-year-old, is a farmer at Imota, Ikorodu in Lagos State.

She moved to Oke-Ado community in Ibadan with a 30-year-old man who lied to to her that she would take her to her mother.

She found out later that he was lying to her.

She said, “I always asked my father about my mother’s whereabouts but he never told me the truth that my mother is dead.

“When I saw someone that promised to take me to my mother, I was very happy to follow him because I had always desired to know my mother not knowing that the man had evil plans.”

While being handed over to her aunty, Mrs Yemi Abayomi, a 43-year-old trader in the presence of other family members, the Chairman of the team, Pastor Marcus Williams, described her as a promising and bold child.

He promised that the state would not relent in fighting those taking undue advantage of the vulnerable members of the society.
