The Oyo State Government has indicated its resolve to partner experts in the energy and solid mineral resources sectors in its bid to have alternative power sources for sustainable growth and development.
The Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Temilolu Asamu, gave the indication on Thursday during the visit by the Nigerian society of Engineers in Oyo State, led by its Chairman, Dr Wasiu Ajagbe.
The commissioner urged stakeholders in the state to collaborate in the effort to search for alternative power sources for sustainable growth.
He urged engineers in the state to work in concert with the Ministry to discover new areas in the energy and mineral resources sectors.
According to him, this would boost socio-economic activities in the state and attract local and foreign investments.
He added, “The task of moving Oyo State forward is a joint effort as government alone cannot do it without the support of the relevant agencies.
“We appreciate the readiness of Oyo NSE to collaborate with the state government to look into areas of interest, especially in the energy and mineral resources sector. This will bring about a boost in investments and we shall witness a rise in employment.”
In his address, Ajagbe lauded the state government for creating the Ministry for Energy and mineral resources, noting that exploring the energy sector would boost the state’s internally generated revenue and, equally empower the residents.
