.NUJ holds special thanksgiving service Sunday
The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council, says it would partner 25 US-based Nigerian medical personnel to screen and treat no fewer than 1,200 journalists in the state.
The state Secretary of NUJ, Sola Oladapo, quoted the Chairman of the union, Ademola Babalola, in a statement, on Saturday, as urging journalists in Oyo State take advantage of the free eye screening, eye glasses presentation, dental care and other medical supports.
The statement read that it was part of efforts to guarantee healthy living and make them fit to discharge their services effectively as expected.
It further quoted the NUJ Chairman as saying that “Securing medical care for 1,200 journalists, including sports writers, women journalists and the League of Veteran Journalists is a great experience and unprecedented in the annals of Oyo NUJ.”
It lauded Oluwakemi Ajayi, the facilitator; Dr. Oluwole Ajagbe, leader of the medical team; and others for believing in the NUJ leadership.
It also urged journalists in the state to make best use of the three-day exercise starting from Monday morning at the NUJ Press Centre, Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan.
Another statement added that in view of the NUJ End of 2021 Press Week, a church Thanksgiving Service would hold on Sunday.
It read that the renowned Pastor S.K. Abiara would welcome journalists in the state to jointly thank God for the success of year 2021 NUJ Press Week and second Anniversary of the Demola Babalola-led Oyo NUJ Executives at the CAC Agbala Itura International Headquarters, Olode, New Ife Road, off Adegbayi, Ibadan.
