Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Leader of Pan Yoruba Socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, has advised President Bola Tinubu to prioritize the implementation of the 2014 National Conference report and the El-rufai recommendation.
Rather than deceiving himself to get support for reelection for second term in 2027 as president, Adebanjo said Tinubu should do the needful now as the north would not vote for him again.
Adebanjo, in an interview with a journalist, said that by hoping that the North would support him for second term, Tinubu is deceiving himself, noting that northerners are merely pretending to support him.
He said president Tinubu should take the bull by the horn and leave a legacy behind, by creating a new constitution for the country.
The Afenifere chief stated that the president would have written his name in gold even if northerners refuse to vote for him for a second term in 2027 if a new constitution is created.
“He (Tinubu) is deceiving himself! I’ll say it again, the North will not vote for him again because all that he’s doing now is not favourable to them.
“Let him know they’re pretending that they are supporting him. He should take the bull by the horn and leave a legacy behind. He should go the whole hog and create a new constitution,” he said.
Adebanjo also advised the media to mount pressure on President Bola Tinubu to do the right thing regarding the 2014 National Conference report and the El-rufai recommendation.
He urged the president to inaugurate a committee to harmonise the two reports within three days and let the operation of the new constitution begin between now and October.
