AKINWALE ABOLUWADE

The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has declared a 40-day period of prayer, fasting and praise for Nigeria from Monday, January 6 to Friday, February 14, 2025. The move comes as the nation grapples with social, economic, and political challenges, with PFN calling on Nigerians to seek divine intervention for the country’s transformation.

Easter: PFN President tasks Nigerians to embrace hope amid national hardships

In a statement issued by the PFN President, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, the fellowship expressed gratitude to God for the new year while acknowledging the need for urgent spiritual action to address Nigeria’s ongoing issues.

“We give thanks to God Almighty for bringing us into the year 2025. We congratulate you that we made it together into this new year despite all the challenges of previous years,” Bishop Oke said.

According to the PFN leader, the decision to embark on the 40-day spiritual exercise is rooted in the fellowship’s desire for Nigeria’s rebirth. He urged Nigerians to seek God’s mercy and intervention in the nation’s affairs by humbling themselves in prayer, fasting, and praise.

State-Wide Participation and Prayer Guide

The PFN has structured the program to involve believers across Nigeria. The PFN’s Directorate of Intercession and Prayer, led by Rev. Dr. Mercy Ezekiel, has allocated specific days for each state to fast and pray collectively. A detailed prayer guide has also been provided to ensure uniformity in the spiritual exercise across the country.

Bishop Oke stated that the prayers will focus on asking God for mercy, seeking divine help for leaders at all levels of government, and praying for the healing and restoration of Nigeria.

Biennial Conference in Abuja

The spiritual exercise will culminate in the PFN’s 18th Biennial Conference, scheduled to hold in Abuja from February 11 to 14, 2025. The conference will be preceded by a national colloquium at the Yar’Adua Conference Centre on February 10. The main conference will take place at the Glory Dome, Dunamis Christian Center, along Airport Road, Lugbe, Abuja.

The theme for this year’s biennial conference is “The Rebirth of a Great Nation,” drawn from the prophetic words of Isaiah 66:8.

“Who hath heard such a thing? Who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.” (Isaiah 66:8, KJV)

The PFN believes this theme symbolizes hope and the possibility of Nigeria’s transformation through collective prayers.

Call to Action

The PFN has called on all believers to join the prayer, fasting, and praise exercise, emphasizing the need for true repentance and humility before God. Bishop Oke quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14 to drive home the importance of the exercise:

“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”

The PFN expressed confidence that God will be merciful to Nigeria and bring about a rebirth that will benefit all citizens.

Prayers for 2025 and Beyond

Concluding the statement, Bishop Oke said, “God bless you all through 2025. God bless Nigeria.” He reiterated that through prayer, fasting, and praise, Nigeria can overcome its current challenges and achieve a brighter future.
