The authorities of The Polytechnic Ibadan on Monday shifted the 2019/2020 first semester examination in the school by one week in view of the complaints that was made by the students.
The examination was initially scheduled to commence today, October 12.
A statement signed by the Registrar of the Institution, Mrs Modupe Fawale, titled, ‘Poly suspends first semester examination for 1 week,’ read,”The Management of The Polytechnic Ibadan has suspended the first semester examination for the 2019/2020 academic session earlier scheduled to commence today, Monday.
“The examination will now commence on Monday, 19th October with the HND II students in the Faculty of Business and Communication Studies and their counterparts in the Faculty of Environmental Studies following the order earlier scheduled.”
It indicated that the postponement is to enable students who were unable to meet registration and payment of tuition deadline to do so.
The statement however warned the students against engaging in examination malpractices, stressing that whoever is caught doing so would be sanctioned accordingly.
It added, “Equally, any student caught with cell phone and smart watch will be suspended from the institution and the materials will be confiscated.Students are expected to observe all COVID-19 protocols including the use of facemasks. Those who fail to abide shall not be permitted to take part in the scheduled examination.
“As earlier informed, students facing registration challenges are to go to the accredited ICT centres for solution.”
It was learnt that the students of the polytechnic had earlier kicked against the decision to start the examination on October 12 as earlier scheduled due to their inability to complete the registration within the stipulated period.
