It was a rewarding moment as Saint Caroline Private School, Agbofieti, Ibadan came first in songs and drama competition while Valencia Schools, Bodija, Ibadan emerged first in quiz competition during a programme organised by Alliance Francaise, Ibadan, on Tuesday.
Seven schools, including Ibadan International School, Valencia and Bodija International School, all in Ibadan, were represented in the keenly contested competition.
Ten students each represented the participating schools at the event held within the premises of Alliance Francaise, along the Seventh Day Adventist Road, Iyaganku Magistrate Court, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
Three major activities – Songs, Drama and Quiz competitions- were featured at the programme which saw Saint Caroline Private School also coming second in quiz.
The fun-packed event had in attendance scribes of Alliance Francaise, officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Education, including staff and students of the participating schools.
Madame Francoise le Lievre, Director of the French Centre, who received the visitors, expressed delight at the performance of the students. She also encouraged them to put in more efforts, assuring all of the inherent benefits of learning the international language.
The schools that emerged winners were presented with plaques in the various categories while souvenirs were also given to some students for brilliance.
The Managing Director of Saint Caroline Private School, Mrs JT Ajagbe, describing the event as a big fun, lauded the management of Alliance Francaise for their initiatives.
She said that it was an opportunity to test the quality of learning in the various schools as well as a means of giving the pupils the right exposure.
