The body of Senator Abiola Ajimobi, former Oyo State Governor, was on Sunday laid to rest in Ibadan, the state capital.

Contrary to the decision of the Ajimobi family to bury the late Acting Chairman of the All Progressives Congress at the Agodi GRA, Ajimobi was buried at his 6th Avenue, Yemoja Street, Oluyole Estate residence. hi

The Agodi GRA, which was the preferred choice of the Ajimobi family, was not approved by the Oyo State Government on the ground that there was litigation on the property.

He was buried according to Islamic rite amid tight security at 10:05am.

It will be recalled that Ajimobi, aged 70, was confirmed dead at a Lagos hospital after illness relating to multiple organ failure.

The late politician was reportedly buried in strict compliance with the the COVID-19 protocols.

Less than 20 people, including wife of the former governor, Chief Florence Ajimobi, and other members of his immediate family, were in attendance.

Policemen and men of the Security and Civil Defence Corp were strategically positioned at the residence of the deceased.

Movements in and out of the neighbourhood were controlled as the burial ceremony held.

Party faithfuls and other loyalists of the late politician were barred from the scene of the burial.

At 12 noon, prayers were held for the deceased at the Senator Ishaq Abiola Ajimobi Mosque, Oke-Ado, Ibadan.
