The statement said that like many other Nigerians, Senator Alli, was deeply touched by the incident.

It read that the deceased was a committed journalist who had passion for accurate news reporting and investigative journalism, describing his passage as a great loss to the Nigerian media industry.

It read that the death of a journalist in the course of duty was a painful and unfortunate development that called for greater attention to journalists’ welfare and safety.

The Senate Press Corps and the entire Nigerian media industry had lost an hardworking member who would be greatly missed by all, the statement read.

It expressed condolences to the Adeyemi family, the Senate Press Corps and the management of the African Newspapers of Nigeria, publishers of the Nigerian Tribune Newspapers.

It urged media organisations to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of their employees, especially journalists who are often exposed to risks as well as hazards in the discharge of their duties.

The statement also urged his family and colleagues to take solace in the fact that he left a mark in the media industry.

It advised the government to address the challenges being faced by the media industry, stating that “The Nigerian media has critical roles to play in nation-building, and it is essential to create an enabling environment for journalists to operate without fear or intimidation.”

It expressed hope that his legacy would inspire other journalists to strive for excellence in their profession while upholding the core values of news accuracy, objectivity, and fairness.

While appealing to the Nigerian media to continue to support the family of the deceased especially at period this difficult period, it prayed that Almighty Allah forgives the late Adeyemi’s shortcomings and grants his soul perfect rest in Aljannat.
