Senator Shehu Sani has advised the Federal Government to adopt bandits as officials of the state as it failed to declare them as terrorists.

In a viral tweet, the former representative of Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, lamented the havoc being perpetrated by the bandits on the citizens.

Sani also expressed his reservations on the attitude of the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to the attacks by the bandits.

On his Twitter handle, Sani lamented the killings of both Christian and Muslim worshippers by the bandits at worship centres on different occasions.

Sani’s tweet read that bandits “killed Muslim worshippers in their mosques in Niger and Katsina states; they killed Christians in their Churches in Kaduna State; if the government doesn’t want to declare them terrorists, it should declare them federal civil servants.”

The former lawmakers had, at various times, reacted to the incessant attacks and killings by the bandits in parts of the north with calls that the killer gangs should be declared as terrorists in order to enable the military declare full scale war against them but the Federal Government did not heed.

The Chairman of the Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Joseph Hayab, while reacting to a bloody attack by the bandits, described it as “another sad story of how deteriorating our insecurity has become.”

Sani had written in a reaction to a previous incident that “Attacks on the Baptist Church Kakau Daji, Kaduna State by terrorists, the killing of some worshippers and the abductions of scores of others are tragic and unfortunate. The suspension of the telecoms services in the North is useless.”
