AKINWALE ABOLUWADE
A National Assembly member, Shina Peller, has lamented the passage of the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdulganiyu Adekunle Salaudeen, describing it as a great loss to the people of Iseyin, Oke Ogun and the entire Yoruba land.
The representative of Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency of Oyo State at the National Assembly expressed his opinion in a tribute which he personally signed and shared on his verified social media handles.
He said that the late Aseyin was a loving and dear royal father whose immense contributions to the promotion of the Yoruba cultural heritage remained noteworthy.
Peller recalled that he had a father-son-relationship which was valuable and memorable with the late king, stating, “It was with a very heavy heart that I received the news of the exit of my loving and dearest royal father, the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba Abdul Ganiyy Adekunle Salaudeen, Oloogunebi Ajinese I, who joined his ancestors yesterday (Sunday).
“Oba Salaudeen was like a father to me. I valued and enjoyed our father-son-relationship as well as his unwavering support, concern and genuine love for me; I will miss him so much.
“Also, my heart is heavy because we have lost a very prominent Oke Ogun monarch and a revered Yoruba traditional ruler who will be greatly missed not only by the people of Iseyin but the whole of Oke Ogun, Oyo State and the entire Yoruba land. Without doubt, he is a great loss to the Yoruba race!
“The late Oba was a compassionate royal father whose immense contributions to the promotion of the Yoruba cultural heritage remains noteworthy. Also, he was so passionate and committed to ensuring the welfare, growth and development of his subjects, Iseyinland and Oke Ogun as a whole.
“My heartfelt condolences to all of us in Iseyin, particularly the indigenes both home and away, royal family and traditional chiefs, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs and to the entire people of Yoruba land. I pray that God consoles us all. May the soul of my departed royal father find peace with God.”
