Reactions are currently trailing the decision by Aliyu Na Idris, a 26-year-old man from Kaduna State, to put himself up for sale.

Idris said that he relocated to Kano from Kaduna in search of an interested buyer who would pay N20 million to have him over as his property.

The young man, who introduced himself as a tailor, reportedly roams the street with a placard reading, “This man is for sale for N20 million.”

Eyewitnesses said that Idris had been on the streets for days in search of who would buy him.

He premised his decisions to sell himself on the hardship in the land.

However, some social media users gave divergent opinions on the young man’s decision to sell himself.

In his reaction, a man called Hope Effiong, asked, “Big bros, now that you want to sell yourself, who will eat the money?”

Diplomatic Patrick, said, “The interested buyers in Calabar need up to three or four persons that will amount to N60m to 80m, please do fast.”

Tony Ogwu, ascribing the travail of Idris to the harsh economy in the land, wrote, “Hardship everywhere in Nigeria, say baba.”

Muhd Suly, however wrote, “Hardship is bad but this is not good idea. You just need mind mentoring programme.”

Meanwhile, for Idris, getting a buyer is a whole lot of stress. He said that he relocated from Kaduna to Kano having failed to see a buyer in his home state.

Idris, who hinted that he was into tailoring business, said, “Even though many people had offered me N10m, N5m and N300,000 in Kano, I refused because the amount is less than what I expected.”

According to him, he became distressed as his tailoring business failed due to the financial challenges.

On how he hopes to spend the money, he said, “I will give my parents N10m; I will give N5m as tax to the state where I was bought, the person who helped in advertising me will be rewarded with N2m while the remaining N3m will be kept for me under the care of the person who buys me for my daily upkeep.”

He stated that although he would lose his freedom to whoever purchased him, that would not matter to him anyway.

He expressed the hope that he would relocate to another state if he failed to get a buyer in Kano.
