The Christian Association of Nigeria, Oyo State branch, in collaboration with the Concerned Christian Citizens, has expressed worries over the incessant killings of Christians in Kaduna State.
The Christian body urged President Mohammadu Buhari to intervene in the matter before it gets out of hand.
The group spoke in Ibadan during a prayer that was organised against the persecution of Christians in the northern state.
The General Steward, Emmanuel The Saint Sabba Evangelical Mission, Worldwide, Gekuba, Apata, Ibadan, Bishop Daniel Oluwajimade, who led the group in prayers on the occasion, said Christians all over the world are distrust with happenings in Southern Kaduna.
The Bishop, who is the State Director, Issues and Social Welfare, added, “What we did here today is needful because if not done, people wouldn’t know that we are not happy. All Christians in Nigeria are not happy about what is happening in Kaduna and the northern part of this country. It is not really a demonstration but a way of telling the government that what is happening in the northern state is not acceptable.”
The state Chairman of CAN, Apostle Joshua Akinyemiju, prayed for God’s intervention in the unabated violence by suspected Muslim Fulani herdsmen in Southern Kaduna.
Akinyemiju said, “We are supposed to hand over Nigeria to God for peace to reign because whatever human beings cannot do should be handed over to God, the author and finisher of our faith. We have handed over the killings and violence in Kaduna to God to handle so that peace can reign.”
One of the Conveners of the programme, Mrs Foluso Makanjuola-Oyenuga, said,”There is urgent need to stop the unchecked violence by Muslim Fulani herdsmen that led to multiple death in the area.
“President Buhari, as a matter of urgency, should do whatever it takes to stop the unprovoked and unchecked violence caused by the Muslim Fulani herdsmen in Southern Kaduna which is a predominantly Christian community to avoid unnecessary chaos in the land.
“The killing has been going on for a long time and if not stopped now, it may lead to further breakdown of law and order which will definitely give the country a bad image.”
