The education summit would be held between August 22 and 24.

In a letter titled, ‘Re: Appointment as Chairman, Osun State Education summit: Letter of congratulations,’ dated July 17, 2023 with Reference Number VC/GC.4, the UI authorities described Aremu’s appointment as a testimony of his attribute as a hardworking officer.

The letter, which was personally signed by Prof. Kayode Adebowale, Vice-Chancellor of the premier university, read in parts, “I congratulate you heartily and commend your diligence, hardwork and doggedness which culminated in your appointment. You displayed commitment and true leadership while in office as the Director of the Distance Learning Centre.

“This is a greater call to service at the state level and an added responsibility on your part. I trust that you will continue to be a good ambassador of the University through quality and effective leadership which you will provide to the Planning Committee of the Osun State Education Summit.

“I trust that you will not relent in your efforts at making giant strides towards further greatness. On behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, staff and students of the University of Ibadan, accept my congratulations.”

While reacting to his feelings towards the gesture of the University management to his recent appointment, Aremu said that “I am full of gratitude that the University authority acknowledges the worth of my efforts in the discharge of my duties over the years.”

Recall that while speaking about the coming Osun Education Summit 2023 in an interview published by Oyo Reporters on July 13, 2023, Aremu who expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Osun State, Senator Adeleke Nurudeen Jackson, for his appointment, explained that the essence of the (2023) summit was

“To really brainstorm on what should be the policy roadmap, a benchmark or a blueprint on what education should look like in Osun. From the committee on the summit, the people of Osun State should expect a roadmap which the government of Governor Adeleke would follow on education in Osun State.

“These include primary education, secondary, technical as well as higher institutions in Osun State. In a nutshell, we shall be taking about what should be the policy that the government would follow. The people of Osun, should expect – God helping us – very strong policies that would be sustainable and help to rejig the dwindling fortunes of education in Osun State.”
