Oyo State Government on Friday described as false the allegation that it hoarded COVID-19 palliatives meant for the residents of the state in a private warehouse in Ibadan, the state capital.
It was rumour by some residents of the state that some food items procured to cushion the effect of Coronavirus was kept in a private warehouse in Ibadan.
Following the shocking discovery of private warehouses in Lagos and Osun states where palliative food items were kept, a section of the public became suspicious that a similar scenario played out in Oyo State.
A warehouse where some palliatives were said to have been kept was reportedly discovered at Lagelu Local Government Area of the state.
However, the state government had debunked the allegation.
During a press briefing held at the state secretariat on Friday, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Bayo Lawal, said the warehouse in Lagelu Local Government is owned by a vendor working with CACOVID and not the state government.
Lawal, who doubles as chairman, COVID-19 palliatives distribution in the state, said there was no case of hoarding in Oyo State.
