Eleven of the 61 passengers who were kidnapped in the March 28 Abuja-Kaduna train attack have regained freedom after negotiations.
Six of the freed passengers were said to be females while the males were five.
The abducted passengers were reported to have been flown to Abuja following their release on the orders of President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to report, the directive was given in order for medical evaluation and treatment to be carried out on the victims before uniting them with their families.
Eight people were killed with 26 others injured while scores went missing in the attack which occurred on March 28 at Dutse Forest, in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Mallam Tukur Mamu, spokesman to Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, said that the victims were released on Saturday afternoon at a forest.
Mamu gave the names of the freed victims as Jessy John, Amina Ba’aba Mohammed (Gamba), Rashida Yusuf Busari and Hannah Ajewole. Others include Najib Mohammed Daiharu, Gaius Gambo, Hassan Aliyu, Peace A. Boy and Danjuma Sa’idu.
He indicated that some retired Army generals and a renowned professor also assisted in effecting the release of the passengers.
