The management board of the Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps have expressed the readiness to improve the operations of the Agency and the Corps in the state in a bid to curb crime and criminality.
The indication was given in a statement made available to Oyo Reporters by the Media Officer, Amotekun Corps, Ayolola Adedoja, in Ibadan, the state capital, on Friday.
According to the statement, the meeting of the board, held on Tuesday, July 18, targeted at reviewing the activities of the Corps, was the first after its inauguration by Governor Seyi Makinde on 18th June, 2021.
In attendance at the meeting was the state Commandant of the Operations, Colonel Olayinka Olayanju (retd.), amongst other board members.
The board also has Enitan Akinbode as the Secretary, while the Commissioner of Police, NSCDC Commandant, representative of Armed Forces, Executive Secretary of State Security Trust Fund and Executive Assistant to the Governor on Security Matters, are members.
The statement read that “The Oyo State Security Network Agency and Amotekun Corps had their first meeting after their inauguration that came up on the 18th of June, 2021. The meeting, which was held at the Ministry of Justice Library Complex, was to rectify past activities of members of the Board before the inauguration.
“The activities involved the recruitment exercise, the Agency’s organogram, discipline, training and re-training of the staff in a bid for the Corps members to be good ambassadors of the Agency and the state at large.
“Also discussed were welfare of the operatives which includes remunerations and allowances as well as insurance for unforseen emergency contingency and hazard, policy guideline for the operations, administrations cum discipline.”
The statement read that the Chairman of the Agency, General Kunle Togun (retd.), said that the Board members would not relent in its efforts until solid logistics and plans were met to curb insecurity in the state and to ensure that the state regained the lost glory.
It quoted Togun as urging members of the public to cooperate with the Agency and the Corps members in carrying out their duties in a bid to curb crime and bring evil perpetrators to book and make Oyo State crime free.
It added that the retired general emphasised that security of the state should be seen as a collaborative effort.
