The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced that its newly launched Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered business registration portal is now handling over 11,000 transactions daily.
In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, the Commission acknowledged ongoing technical challenges—particularly those flagged by legal professionals—related to identity verification and payment processing.
It assured users that efforts were underway to resolve these issues and improve the overall user experience.
Since its rollout on June 30, the AI-powered portal has delivered significant efficiencies. Notably, the CAC can now issue business registration certificates within 30 minutes once a director’s National Identification Number (NIN) is successfully verified.
The Commission also highlighted that the platform allows users to test multiple business names without requiring upfront payment—an innovation aimed at reducing entry barriers for startups and entrepreneurs.
“You can’t compare AI with humans for service delivery. We now handle over 11,000 cases daily,” the CAC stated.
However, the Commission explained that some of the system slowdowns stem from dependencies on external services. In particular, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) portal, which has been offline for several weeks, has hindered automatic NIN verification.
To support users, CAC disclosed that a dedicated help desk now processes over 3,000 complaint emails daily, enabling real-time response and continuous platform improvement.
Software patches are also being deployed to address service disruptions, with full system stability expected soon.
In response to intermittent outages affecting the REMITA payment gateway, the CAC said it has requested Treasury approval for an alternative payment channel to ensure uninterrupted service during technical downtimes.
