An Oyo State High Court has restrained the United Bank for Africa (UBA) from releasing funds from accounts opened in the names of the 30 Local Governments in Osun State by the sacked All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmen and councillors.
The interim order, issued on Friday, September 26, 2025, by Justice A.L. Akintola of Court 5, followed an ex-parte application filed by the Attorney-General of Osun State. The state government had challenged the release of seized federal allocations into the disputed accounts, in suit number 1/1149/25.

In its application, the state sought an injunction to prevent UBA from paying out any of the statutory allocations pending the hearing of a substantive motion on notice.
Justice Akintola, after considering the motion, affidavits, and counsel submissions, ruled that urgent intervention was necessary to avert “irreversible harm” to the state.
The court therefore granted the interim injunctions, barring the bank from releasing the funds to any individual or entity until the motion on notice is heard. The matter was adjourned to October 3, 2025.
Following the ruling, Osun State’s lead counsel, Mr. Musibau Adetunbi, SAN, wrote to UBA’s head office in Lagos and its Osogbo branch, reminding the bank of its obligation to comply with the order.
The letter listed the 30 contentious accounts and noted that the injunction also applied to any other accounts linked to the allocations.
Adetunbi stressed that the bank’s legal department had been served, adding, “The essence of this letter is just to remind you of your duty to comply with the above-stated order, so long as it subsists, pending the hearing of the motion on notice.”
