Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, today Monday, January 13, 2025, officially presented staff and certificate of appointment to Prince Akeem Abimbola Owoade as the 46th Alaafin-elect.
The process marks the formal ascension of the new monarch to the throne of the Alaafin of Oyo.
The official ceremony was held at the Oyo State Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.
The event was attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers and leaders, government officials and enthusiastic indigenes of Oyo town.
Governor Makinde, while presenting the insignia of office, described the Alaafin-elect as a leader poised to uphold the cultural and historical heritage of the Oyo Kingdom.
The governor stated that the Alaafin of Oyo is not just a traditional ruler but a custodian of rich history and tradition.
He expressed the belief that Oba Akeem Abimbola Owoade would lead the ancient town with wisdom, integrity and sense of commitment to the unity of the Oyo kingdom.
