The Coalition of Support Groups for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has disclosed that it will hold a one million-man match for its political idol in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital in support of his presidential ambition in the 2023 election.
The support groups announced this at the inauguration of its committee in Ibadan on Sunday, saying that participants are expected from Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states.
Akin Thomas, Director-General of the Coalition, said that Ibadan was chosen for the inauguration because “Oyo is the only state not governed by the APC in the region, and Ibadan is the capital of Yoruba land.
“For this reason, we know it may not be easy but we will achieve our goal. We need to make a statement that this is the man we want in the South-West, hence we must put into it everything we have.
“Ibadan was also chosen to inaugurate the committees to test the commitment of members. This is a very serious business. We won’t rest until after the walk takes place.”
The Tinubu rally, billed to start from Adamasingba and end at Iwo Road interchange, would draw supporters from the six South-West states, the statement read.
“The walk came as a vision because we have seen what Asiwaju has done in the past. And, we believe it is time for the South-West to produce the next president. The next candidate we can project in South-West for the next presidential election is Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The walk is for all the people in South-West to stand together and make a statement that Asiwaju Tinubu is who we want in Aso Rock in 2023.”
In her remarks, Folasade Oba, Chairman, Finance Committee, said, “We can’t do less for Asiwaju Tinubu. We see no better choice than him at this time in the history of Nigeria. So, it is a honour and privilege to serve in selecting the best candidate to lead Nigeria as from 2023.”
