Hoodlums were reported to have broken into the Oluyole Estate, Ibadan home of Senator Teslim Folarin, representing the Oyo Central senatorial district at the National Assembly, on Saturday.
Checks by Oyo Reporters showed that the hoodlums broke into the compound of the politician carting away palliative items such as motorcycles, power generating sets, grinding machines and other items worth several millions of naira.
The senator disclosed the incident during a telephone interview on Fresh 105.9FM on Saturday.
The senator stated that no fewer than 300 motorcycles, power generating sets and grinding machines meant for the empowerment of his constituents were stolen.
Folarin said, “I am relieved because no life was lost.”
Some loyalists of the politician were seen around the his house. They were seen threatened to deal with whoever dared to attack the residence again.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, who conformed the incident during a telephone interview with our correspondent, said, “The Divisional Police Officer, Oluyole is fully aware of the development and the matter is being investigated. We shall be able to give the detail on the circumstance surrounding the incident after investigation has been concluded.”
Folarin, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, YSO Olaniyi, described the attack as “evil, barbaric and unfortunate.”
The statement read, “The perpetrators were not #EndSARS protesters but coordinated hoodlums. They even broke down doors to rooms in the house to steal valuable assets. It was a pure daylight robbery.
“I thank God we did not record any fatality despite the violent invasion of my Oluyole house. For the sake of clarification, I have just formally taken receipt of the empowerment materials from a federal agency coordinating constituency projects for federal lawmakers.
“Also, I used my personal money to procure additional materials. I took stock of the materials ahead of a mega empowerment programme scheduled to hold in November 2020.”
