The sixth leadership team was ushered in warmly with members commending the outgoing executives.

The election, which took place during the Chapter’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, August 18, 2025, at NTA Ibadan, marked a seamless transition of leadership.

In his valedictory remarks, outgoing Chairman, Engr. Ogunpaimo Babatunde, MNIEEE, expressed gratitude to members for their support throughout his tenure.

He described the election as “another success story,” congratulating the 6th Executive Council and urging them to uphold the values of simplicity, inclusiveness, and professional excellence that have distinguished the Ibadan Chapter.

“I warmly congratulate and welcome our newly elected Executive Council. May your tenure be fruitful, impactful, and filled with achievements. The Ibadan Chapter remains a symbol of inclusiveness and progress, and I trust the new Excos will continue to move us forward,” Ogunpaimo stated.

He tasked the new leadership with driving innovation, improving member benefits, and combating quackery, describing Electrical and Electronic Engineering as “the bedrock of socio-economic development.”

The Electoral Committee Chairman, Engr. Sontan, affirmed that the process was free, fair, and credible, commending members for their active participation and orderly conduct.

In his goodwill message, Patron and Fellow of the Institute, Engr. Akin Morakinyo, FNIEEE, congratulated the new Chairman, Engr. The newly elected Council will be formally inaugurated in the coming weeks.

The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) is committed to advancing professional practice, technical excellence, and innovation in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
