The Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE), Ibadan Chapter, has elected a new Executive Council to steer the affairs of the branch for the next two years.
The sixth leadership team was ushered in warmly with members commending the outgoing executives.
The election, which took place during the Chapter’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Monday, August 18, 2025, at NTA Ibadan, marked a seamless transition of leadership.

In his valedictory remarks, outgoing Chairman, Engr. Ogunpaimo Babatunde, MNIEEE, expressed gratitude to members for their support throughout his tenure.
He described the election as “another success story,” congratulating the 6th Executive Council and urging them to uphold the values of simplicity, inclusiveness, and professional excellence that have distinguished the Ibadan Chapter.
“I warmly congratulate and welcome our newly elected Executive Council. May your tenure be fruitful, impactful, and filled with achievements. The Ibadan Chapter remains a symbol of inclusiveness and progress, and I trust the new Excos will continue to move us forward,” Ogunpaimo stated.
Also speaking, the immediate past Chairman and 4th Chairman of the branch, Engr. Olayiwola Oyelade, FNIEEE, called for closer collaboration with the National and Regional Councils.

He tasked the new leadership with driving innovation, improving member benefits, and combating quackery, describing Electrical and Electronic Engineering as “the bedrock of socio-economic development.”
The Electoral Committee Chairman, Engr. Sontan, affirmed that the process was free, fair, and credible, commending members for their active participation and orderly conduct.
In his goodwill message, Patron and Fellow of the Institute, Engr. Akin Morakinyo, FNIEEE, congratulated the new Chairman, Engr. Olaifa, FNIEEE, and his team on what he described as a “renewed hope agenda” for the Chapter. He also praised Engr. Ogunpaimo for his commitment in sustaining the branch during his tenure.
The newly elected Council will be formally inaugurated in the coming weeks.
The AGM ended on a celebratory note, with members applauding the achievements of the outgoing leadership, particularly in technical sessions, student career development programmes and enhanced professional networking, while pledging renewed support for the incoming administration.

The Ibadan Chapter remains one of the most active branches nationwide, promoting knowledge-sharing, mentoring, and professional development across academia, industry, and public service.
Gabriel Olaifa, FNIEEE, emerged as the Chairman while Sangodare Olajide was elected as Deputy Chairman. Olubode Ayobami clinched the position for Electronic & Computer, Adabanija R.A, Info tech, Abdganeey M.T, Financial Secretary, Fasola S.O, Clean Energy.
Ashiru K.S is Vice Chairman, Instrumentation; Adeyemo A. A is Vice Chairman, Embedded Generation & Space Engineering, Eunice Adepoju as Secretary, Engr. Amao R.A, Avionic Engineering, Engr. Fasola, is VC, Clean Energy, Engr. Joseph Gorisallo is Ex-Officio, and Engr. Tunde Ogunpaimo – IPC.
The immediate past chairman of NIEEE, Engr. Olayiwola Oyelade, urged them to be proactive in discharging the responsibilities entrusted to them. He prayed for the continued growth and development of the body, noting that its progress would rub off directly on Nigeria at large.
