Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwo, has said that he would wage war against ritual killings in his domain by confiscating the ritualists’ den that was recently discovered in Iwo.

The monarch condemned ritual killings and the perpetrators, stating that no man of conscience would indulge in the killing of his fellow human beings for monetary gain.

Oba Akanbi, in a statement made available to journalists by his Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, expressed shock at the development adding that it is sad that some elements in his domain engaged in ritual killings despite the regular campaigns against the vice.

The statement described the perpetrators as ‘bastards’ and urged security agencies in the state to conduct full investigation to unearth those connected with the development.

It reads, “As an ardent campaigner against ritual killings, I condemn in totality the recently discovered ritual den in Iyemoja, Iwo. It is an act against humanity. Ritual killings is a silent war in Nigeria claiming innocent lives in their millions every day.

“The perpetrators should be made to face the full wrath of law. Iwo is known for morality and respect for human lives. Anyone caught dealing in human parts should be treated as criminal and bastard.

“I have commenced process to confiscate the den discovered in Iwo. I will approach a competent court of law to give permit to confiscate land/house and surrounding houses of ritual killers.

“A powerful security committee will be set up as liaison between the town and the security to give tip off information on suspicious ritual murdering. Doing so will serve as deterrent to others and chase ritualists dealing in human parts away from Iwo.

“I have the hope that the confidence in the palace and effective information management with the security agencies will arrest reoccurrence of such distasteful acts. The spate of ritual killings in Nigeria is alarming and calls for national security summit. Ritual killings is consuming. May be, I should even lead a protest against ritual murderers.

“Iwo is not an abode for evil doers. We need the cooperation of the security agencies to flush them out and clean our land of human blood.”
