A High Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital, has sentenced three of the four suspected killers of Mrs Funke Olakunrin, daughter of the national leader of the Pan Yoruba Socio- Political Group, Afenifere, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, to death by hanging.

Olakunrin, who was on her way to Lagos, was killed by some hoodlums while travelling along the Benin-Ore-Shagamu Expressway in the Ore Odigbo Local Government Area of the state on July 12, 2019.

The 58-year-old-woman was reportedly killed by Awalu Abubakar, Muhammed Shehu and Adamu Adamu.

The three suspected killers were convicted by Justice Williams Olamide on charges of murder, kidnapping and armed robbery.

The fourth defendant, named Auwalu Abubakar, 25, was discharged and acquitted.

The police alleged that the suspects also murdered one Ogunbiyi Matthew, aged 65 and also kidnapped one Gerald Igboayaka on the same day when Funke Olakunri was murdered on the highway.
