The Oyo State Government has, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund, re-launched the Social Mobilisation Committee in the state.
According to the Director, Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Information and Orientation, Rotimi Babalola, the committee was re-launched on Thursday at the office of the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade.
OyoReporters learnt that the Social Mobilisation Committee in the state was earlier discarded sometimes in 2018.
Oyelade, however, said that the Ministry of Information and Orientation would collaborate with relevant agencies to undertake public awareness on the need for disease prevention in the state.
This, he stressed, was particularly necessary across communities in Oyo State. Oyelade said that the Ministry would track the progress of children’s wellbeing in the state in conjunction with ministries, departments and agencies.
The relaunch was attended by the UNICEF Social Behavioural Change Specialist and stakeholders from media houses and MDAs where it was agreed that attendees would be meeting quarterly.
Oyelade said, “We will cooperate with you and ensure everything within the purview of our job is done with utmost zeal.”
The UNICEF Social Behavioural Change Specialist, Aderonke Akinola-Akinwole, said that the quarterly meeting would bring about attitudinal change for a healthier Oyo State.
In attendance at the event were the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Orientation, Dr. Taiwo Ladipo; and directors in the Ministry.
