Oyo records 1 COVID-19 related death as cases rise to 605

The Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force disclosed, on Wednesday, that it recorded one death as the total number of confirmed cases in the state rose to 605. 

The confirmation tests for 30 suspected cases came back positive just as the total number of COVID-19 related death in the state is now eight.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who spoke via his verified Twitter handle, on Wednesday, urged the residents of the state to adhere to the physical distancing order in view of the community spread of the virus in the state.

He tweeted, “If you have strange fever, sudden loss of taste/smell or other known COVID-19 symptoms, please visit the nearest community-based testing centre to get tested. 

“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for 30 suspected cases came back positive. The cases are from Ibadan SW (8); Ido (4); Ibadan NW (4); Ibadan SE (3); Ibadan NE (2); Ibadan North (2); Ona Ara (2); Saki West (2); Oluyole (1); Lagelu (1); and Itesiwaju (1) local government areas.

“So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State today is 605.

“Sadly, we had one COVID-19 related death. So, the total number of deaths in Oyo State is eight.”
