Senator Sharafadeen Alli representing Oyo South District has reiterated his support towards the upliftment of teachers in Oyo State in particular and Nigeria in general.
The lawmaker spoke on the occasion of the World Teachers Day in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, made available to journalists in Ibadan, the state capital.
The statement described teachers as invaluable assets to the nation, lauding their dedication towards shaping the future of the country through education.
It emphasised the critical roles teachers play in the moulding of young minds and the overall advancement of the society.
It stated that educators are not just transmitters of knowledge but also mentors and role models whose impacts transcended the classroom.
According to him, teachers’ commitment to nurturing future leaders is the foundation of national development and growth.
It quoted Senator Alli as stressing the need for increased support for teachers, and urged governments at all levels to prioritise policies that could improve their welfare, training and working conditions.
It added, “Our teachers deserve nothing less than the best, as they continue to equip our youths with the skills, values and knowledge necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world.”
Acknowledging the challenges being faced by teachers particularly in developing countries, it urged that more resources be allocated to the education sector.
It also urged stakeholders to collaborate towards ensuring that teachers received deserving recognition, respect and compensation .
He lauded teachers across the globe, encouraging them to continue in their pursuit of excellence in education.
