Senator Sharafadeen Alli, representing Oyo South at the National Assembly, urged the Nigerian youth on the need to harness the power of digital technology for sustainable development.

The politician made the call in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, while felicitating them on the 2024 International Youth Day with the theme, ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.’

The statement quoted Alli as emphasizing the role of the youth in shaping the future of the country in the digital age, saying that they should  be proactive in using technology to drive positive change.

It read that “The theme reflected the immense potential that digital innovation holds for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

Citing the challenges facing the Nigerian youth, with particular references to unemployment and quality education, the senator expressed his commitment to youth oriented policies and initiatives.

“The future of Nigeria rests on the shoulders of the youth, and their active participation in nation building is indispensable,” the statement read.

It called on government at all levels, private sector stakeholders, as well as civil society organisations to invest more in digital infrastructure and education.
