Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has launched a cash grant initiative to alleviate poverty and enhance the economic well-being of women in his constituency, starting with hundreds of beneficiaries in Ibadan North Local Government Area.
The initiative, detailed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, will extend to other local government areas within the Oyo South Senatorial District in the coming weeks.
Senator Alli emphasized that the program is part of his sustained efforts to empower women, acknowledging their critical role in societal development.
“This marks the beginning of a continuous initiative designed to uplift our women. When women are financially empowered, it positively impacts families and communities at large. My mission is to ensure no woman in Oyo South is left behind in the pursuit of economic independence,” he said.
He reassured beneficiaries of additional programs and opportunities in the future, urging political leaders and stakeholders to prioritize initiatives that promote women’s empowerment.
“Our women are the backbone of our communities. They are resilient, industrious, and essential to our growth. As leaders, we have a responsibility to support them in every possible way,” Senator Alli added.
He also encouraged recipients to utilize the grants effectively to ensure the program’s sustainability and inspire more interventions.
Several beneficiaries, who received varying amounts of financial support, expressed their gratitude to the senator, praising his commitment to grassroots development.
“This assistance will significantly help me expand my petty trading business. Senator Alli has demonstrated genuine care for the welfare of the grassroots,” one beneficiary remarked.
