The Representative of Iseyin, Iwajowa, Itesiwaju, and Kajola Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Shina Abiola Peller, has tasked prospective Youth Corp members in the 2021 Batch ‘B’ Stream 2 Orientation course to strive to become assets rather than constituting liability on the society.

Urging them to face the world with courage and determination, Peller stressed the need for them to develop themselves as problem solvers rather than ending up as mere consumers of finished products.

The politician gave the charge recently during his visit to the Oyo State NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Iseyin.
Listing the objectives of the National Youth Service Corps to include integration and promotion of national unity, he implored prospective corps members to preach love and to synergize in the interest of Nigeria’s unity.

The native of Iseyin, describing himself as a youth, said that the voice of every young Nigerian should be heard. He attributed his decision to extend his youth empowerment programme to the corps members in Iseyin Camp to his quest to mobilize the youth for national development.

He enjoined them to key into the Lead Generation Initiative whose aim was to build the future leaders by training them on leadership skills and citizenship right. The LGI, he said, was a non-political and non-profit making organisation that is committed to creating opportunities for young graduates to channel creativity, energy and aspirations to adding value to human communities.

Peller urged them to familiarize with their host communities, identify their needs and take responsibility by fixing problems, while also encouraging them to aquire skills that could give them an edge.

Earlier in her address of welcome, the State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Grace Ogbuogebe, congratulated Peller on the recent title conferred on him as the Ayedero of Yoruba land by the Alaafin of Oyo.

Ogbuogebe, who disclosed that the politician donated the Shina Peller Hostel at the camp few years back, advised the prospective corps members to draw from his wealth of knowledge and resist agitations aimed at undermining the unity and integrity of the nation.

Highlight of the programme was the announcement of the donation of a big cow and five bags of rice to corps members lunch.

Among those on the entourage of the National Assembly member was his wife, Chief Ayobola Peller, who is the Executive Director of the Lead Generation Initiative.
