Olayomi Koiki, Media Aide to Chief Sunday Adeyemo, a.k.a Sunday Igboho, has raised the alarm that the Federal Government masterminded a reported midnight attack on the activist’s residence on Monday.
Oyo Reporters gathered that some heavily armed gunmen who stormed the Soka, Ibadan residence of Sunday Igboho shot sporadically into the air.
However, investigation showed that nobody was hurt in the encounter.
Although facts behind the reported attack could not be confirmed as the police had yet to release an official statement on it, Mr Dapo Salami, one of the aides to Sunday Igboho, reportedly claimed that some gunmen attacked the building at midnight hours.
In a viral video shared on the Facebook, Koiki, claimed that the residence was besieged by men of the Nigeria Army with the aim of arresting the activist.
Drawing the attention of the international community to the development, Koiki said the attack signalled the beginning of a fight with the Federal Government.
It would be recalled that the security agents had in February allegedly attempted to arrest Igboho along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The incident which drew an ire from members of the public was put to rest as the activist confirmed that he was left to go.
Today in a viral video, angry Koiki said, “There is a situation right now where the Federal Government of Nigeria tried to invade. We are telling the world that the war that the Federal Government is waiting for might start today.
“The war that the Federal Government think they are expecting from the Yoruba people; let’s tell the whole world. As I speak to you, there is an ongoing incident but we are more than capable.
“Right now, I am telling the Yoruba people across South-West that we would short down the South-West today.
“The whole South-West will go on a total shortdown today. We are capable enough to tell the Federal Government that those they are formenting trouble with are not #EndSARS agitators and today will be the beginning of the problem that the Federal Government of Nigeria is waiting for.
“We are not going to take it easy and we will deal with them; those whom they send.
“Federal Government does not know who they were dealing with. Let the state know. My name is Olayomi Koiki, we have the enemy that think we cannot be caught unguarded. As far as we know, the situation. Chief Sunday Igboho is fine. You cannot threaten us.”
The Police Public Relations Officer, Oyo State Command, Mr. Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
