Oyekanmi, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, found a purse belonging to another member of staff of the institution and returned it. It was learnt that the purse contained ATM cards, a driver’s licence, other important documents and an undisclosed sum of money.

Described as a honourable officer and an exemplary ambassador of the Security Unit of the university, the Vice-Chancellor,  Prof. Kayode Adebowale, presented him a Letter of Commendation.

According to the VC, in a world where negative news stories get more attention, it is exciting and refreshing to celebrate honesty and integrity which Oyekanmi exemplified.

Prof. Adebowale noted that if all Nigerians, irrespective of religious persuasions, made honesty and integrity their watchwords, the country would be better for it.

He added that by this act, Oyekanmi had greatly improved the image of the institution’s Security Unit in particular and the university in general.

The Registrar of the university, Mrs Olubunmi Faluyi, wrote in the Commendation Letter that Mr Oyekanmi’s action was truly deserving of a special commendation as it was a testimony of his good work ethics and professionalism as a security officer.

She added that Oyekanmi’s role in securing the university was worthy of praise and encouraged him not to rest on his oars in uplifting the integrity of the university.
