The Vice-Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, received the Country Director of the World Bank, Dr. Shubham Chaudhuri, who delivered the lead paper at a symposium jointly organised by the Department of Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, and the Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research.
Adebowale stated that the symposium, titled, ‘Economic opportunity pathways to navigating post-reform challenges in Nigeria,’ is timely especially now as Nigeria go through challenges.
The VC said the symposium would provide an avenue for discussants and the public to interrogate and agree on the priority areas for redirecting the Nigerian economy under the new dispensation.
He expressed the confidence that the communique derived from the symposium would positively impact the nation’s economic policies.
According to the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics, UI, Prof. T. T. Awoyemi, the programme was facilitated by Prof. F. Y. Okunmadewa, formerly of the Department of Agricultural Economics who is now a top official of the World Bank.
