Anti-Buhari protest rocks Abuja in the early hours of Friday. The angry protesters stormed the Dantata Bridge on the popular Airport Road in Abuja, insisting that President Muhammadu Buhari should vacate the seat of power.
The protest against Buhari’s administration holds as the country commemorates its 61st Independence Anniversary.
The placard bearing protesters, chanting ‘Buhari Must Go,’ made bonfires on the highway.
Heavily armed policemen have disperse the protesters. The security men fired tear gas canisters and dispersed them from the venue.
It cannot be ascertained if anyone of the protesters was injured or arrested as of the time of filing this report.
Omoyele Sowore, human rights activist, had on Thursday disclosed that Nigerians would protest across the country on independence day to reject President Muhammadu Buhari.
Sowore was spoke in reaction to a statement released by a presidential aide, Femi Adesina, on Thursday.
In his message on Twitter, Sowore said, “I am urging all citizens and non citizens of Nigeria to boycott @MBuhari’s national “INDEPENDENCE DAY” broadcast scheduled for tomorrow, instead you should partake in protests across d country tomorrow to reject this man, the Failure-In-Chief of the Federal Republic #BuhariMustGo https://t.co/HbEQ0lpyPV.”
