Oba Saliu Adetunji, the Olubadan of Ibadan, has indicated his readiness to give royal support to the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on his ambition to run for president in 2023.
Ova Adetunji gave reportedly spoke while receiving members of the Tinubu Vanguard, a support group for Tinubu’s presidency in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Saturday.
The Director-General of Tinubu Vanguard, Dr. Johnny Benjamin, in a statement on Saturday, said that the Olubadan described Tinubu as a good statesman whose stewardship as president would move the nation into economic prosperity.
The statement quoted the monarch as saying that “Tinubu is a good man and I will do everything within my power to support his candidacy for the 2023 presidential poll.”
The representatives of Tinubu Vanguard had visited the monarch to intimate him of their intention to deliver a Tinubu presidency in 2023 and therefore, seek his royal blessings.
The statement read that the group was committed to ensuring that the Tinubu presidential ambition was actualised in the interest of the nation.
Meanwhile, the Tinubu Vanguard had sent congratulatory messages to Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives and Babajide Sanwoolu, Governor of Lagos on their birthdays.
It lauded the celebrants for their dedication to delivering democratic dividends in their respective spheres.
The statement by the Vanguard read in parts, “Sanwoolu’s programmes and policies are people-oriented and we are proud of his achievements as governor in charge of a complex state like Lagos.
“As for the Speaker, his commitment to hard work and his pragmatic leadership style has set him apart as a quintessential statesman.
“We wish both of them long life and prosperity as they continue to support the delivery of good governance in their different capacities.”
Recall that Sanwoolu and Gbajabiamila celebrated their birthdays on Friday, June 25 with the Speaker turning 59 as Sanwoolu turned 56.
