The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ibadan North-East State Constituency 2 in the 2027 general elections, Hon. Hammed Taoreed Ademola, and an Accord aspirant, Hon. Adedapo Ojo, have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State alongside about 3,000 supporters.
The defectors formally declared for the APC on Friday at an event held at a private facility along Old Ife Road, Ibadan.
Ademola, popularly known as Lucky, said his decision to leave the PDP was based on his assessment of the political situation ahead of the 2027 elections, expressing confidence in the APC’s chances.
Ojo, on his part, described Accord as an unproductive political platform and said he had chosen to join the APC after reviewing the party’s prospects in the state.
Receiving the new members, the Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Alake-Adeyemo, assured them of equal opportunities and urged them to work for the party’s success in 2027.
The party’s governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, also pledged an inclusive administration, promising regular payment of workers’ salaries and pensions, improved healthcare and infrastructure, as well as the establishment of ICT hubs across the state’s geopolitical zones.
