The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has declared a three-day national fasting and prayer from Friday, May 22 to Sunday, May 24, 2026, over the worsening insecurity, killings and economic hardship in the country.
The National President of the fellowship, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, made this known in a statement on Sunday, urging Christians and other Nigerians to participate actively in the spiritual exercise themed, “The Consuming Fire.”
According to the statement, the prayer programme became necessary in view of the “increasing insecurity, violence and killings all over the nation, war by insurgents against the Church, and economic hardship.”
The Fellowship said believers would observe the fasting and prayer in phases across the country.
It explained that on Friday, May 22, Christians were expected to fast and pray in their various churches, while on Saturday, May 23, participants would gather at PFN local government headquarters for prayers.
The statement added that on Sunday, May 24, worshippers would converge at PFN state headquarters or other designated venues approved by PFN state executives to conclude the exercise.
PFN said the programme was aimed at seeking God’s intervention for peace and unity in Nigeria, protection of citizens, an end to bloodshed and violence, economic recovery, and spiritual growth of the Church.
“We respectfully request that you actively participate in the exercise. It is crucial that in a time like this, we must unite in prayer for Nigeria’s future,” the statement read.
The Fellowship also prayed for God to heal the nation and grant Nigerians peace amid the current challenges facing the country.
